Offroad Grit was founded by Mark and Rachel, a passionate husband-and-wife team with a shared love for adventure and the great outdoors. What started as a humble operation in a shed in Beerwah, Queensland, has since grown into a trusted name in the world of custom Offroad caravans.

Mark, with his extensive boat-building background and expertise in fibreglass construction, brings a unique skill set to the table. His experience in crafting durable, high-quality boats directly translates to building caravans that are designed to withstand the toughest conditions. Combined with his deep passion for 4WD vehicles and the outdoor lifestyle, Mark set out to create a caravan that people could trust – one that could go anywhere and endure anything.

Here’s how we do it

Fibreglass-Infused PVC One-Piece Floor:
Our floor is made from a single, seamless piece of fibreglass-infused PVC, which makes it highly impact-resistant, waterproof, and easy to maintain. This design eliminates any seams or joints that could potentially cause leaks. The material is also lightweight, ensuring better fuel efficiency and smoother handling on rough terrain. Additionally, it offers excellent shock absorption, helping your caravan withstand bumpy off-road conditions.

Fibreglass Sandwich Panels with XPS Core for Walls and Roofs:

We use fibreglass sandwich panels, which are made by bonding fibreglass to a layer of XPS (extruded polystyrene) foam. This creates a highly durable, lightweight, and strong material that insulates your caravan from heat and cold, ensuring comfort in all conditions. The fibreglass is resistant to moisture, and the XPS foam core adds strength and rigidity, making the walls and roof tough enough to handle rugged environments while also being resistant to corrosion and damage from the elements.

PVC Versaboard Cabinetry:
For the interior, we use PVC Versaboard, which is a lightweight, waterproof material that resists warping and cracking. It’s perfect for harsh off-road conditions where other materials might struggle. PVC is easy to clean and maintain, and it won’t be affected by humidity or temperature changes, ensuring the longevity of your caravan's interior.

Thermalite for Extra Strength:
In areas where extra strength is needed, such as beneath the table and fridge, we use Thermalite, a high-strength material designed to provide added durability and support. This ensures that these critical areas can withstand the wear and tear of off-road conditions, providing you with a sturdy, long-lasting caravan that can handle even the toughest environments.

Aluminium Extrusions for Structural Support:

To ensure the strength and integrity of the caravan, we use aluminium extrusions in key areas, such as where the floor meets the walls and where the cabinetry attaches to the walls and roof. These extrusions add structural reinforcement, providing a strong and secure framework that keeps everything in place, even under the stress of off-road condition
